Malagent’s Domain Completed Redesigned - Again

Never being completely content with the way things are, I’ve gone and changed Malagent’s Domain (malagent.com) once again. It’s not really a spur of the moment thing though, I’ve been testing several different Wordpress themes and finally decided on a (semi)permanent solution for several of my sites.itheme-snap.jpg

For many months the Malagent’s Domain used the very attractive and functional “iTheme” from N. Design Studios. Later this was replaced by the 3 column version “i3Theme” which was columnized by Mango Orange. Both versions are excellent themes and worked very well. I changed in order to take advantage of some AJAX features and also to increase CTR which seems to fall proportionally as the complexity of the site design increases. Plugin Test obsocialbookmarker 4.0

This plugin allows you to select which social bookmarking services you wish to display. It also lets you choose where you want to display them. When last tested obsm did not fair too well. All the functionality was there, however, the controls were lacking.

The new and improved 4.0 seems to have added greater control over placement and it seems to have a better appearance than the previous versions.

Creating Rewrite Rules

Creating Rewrite Rules (.htaccess)

Your server must have mod_rewrite for cruft-free permalinks to work. In addition, you must create a .htaccess file and place it in the directory in which your main index.php file resides, or make that directory writable so that WordPress can do this for you. For example, if your WordPress blog is installed at domain.com/wordpress/, put the .htaccess file at domain.com/wordpress/.htaccess. However, if your WordPress installation is in a subdirectory but your visitors access your site at the top level of your domain, place the .htaccess file at the domain’s root domain.com/.htaccess.
